Amy J Payne

Amy is currently finishing her final season at Opera North with whom she has been since 2016. Her final role will be as Petra in A Little Night Music (Sondheim) and she will also return as a guest artist from Autumn 2021 to cover the title role in Carmen.
Here's what she had to say about her WOCo. experience:

'WoCo was an absolutely brilliant opportunity for me. I was lucky enough to be invited to take part twice - first in Acis & Galatea (which I think was the very first year?!) and then in Cosi fan Tutte. The latter in particular provided invaluable experience on how to prepare a large role; experience which is very hard to come by as a conservatoire student. It prepared me very well for the pressures of a opera course and then the first few years in the profession. It was very important to have a supportive and safe place to make 'rookie errors' and learn from them!'
